Until 1990 Orrefors and Kosta Boda were separate companies, both in the famous Swedish glass-making area Småland south of Stockholm and with long distinguished histories. They are now part of the same company Orrefors Kosta Boda AB (part of New Wave Group) but still retain very separate identities.
